SJCE - A Step towards Excellence
Sri Jayachamarajendra
College of Engineering, located in the western part of the gorgeous
city of Mysore on a sprawling campus of 47.3 hectares, was established
in 1963 under the aegis of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, well known as
a center of learning with more than 200 Institutions.
Ever since its inception in 1963, SJCE
has been in continuous pursuit of excellence in imparting technical
education. Identifying the parameters of input, processes and
output, this institute has left no stone unturned in acheiving
its goal. The mission of SJCE is to sustain a community of individuals
who are dedicated to the achievement of excellence and who share
a vision related to engineering, management and sciences.
The college has an annual intake of
around 600 students for the undergraduate course based on CET
rankng and 10 + 2 performance. The fact that a number of top
ranking students prefer SJCE to the multitude of colleges present
serves to emphasize the college's commitment to academic excellence.
The college now offers undergraduate
courses in eleven disciplines as well as fourteen post graduate
programmes as part of its formal educational programme.Graduate
programmes are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation,
New Delhi.A seperate R&D cell, started in 1988, undertakes
research and developmental activities and also projects. Many
prestigious institutions of the country such as MHRD, DST, DRDO,
IISC and DEBEL sponsor such research activities.
Library and Information Center
A well indexed
library and information center has over 50,000 books pertaining
to all disciplines. The Reference Section is complete with the
latest periodicals, Technical Journals , Encyclopedias, Dictionaries,
Hand books, Proceedings of Conferences, Monographs and Research
Papers.
SJCE library has been affiliated to MYLIBNET (MYsore LIBrary
NETwork).
Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP)
The campus
houses the Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park that imparts
Entrepreneurship training to the Engineering students.
The major activities of STEP are in
the areas of Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, Technology
Transfer and Mass Employment Generation. STEP also provides
Internet services to students of SJCE at concessional rates,
so as to allow students to live up to the information age.
Software Technology Parks of India (STPI)
Our College
Campus also houses a branch of STPI, which is a Central Government
Organisation. This organisation is actively involved in providing
Internet Services, Data Communication links and other facilities
to Software Exporting Companies. This centre has a 2-MB gateway
earth station, which was inaugurated by our Honourable Prime
Minister Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
